Framing & Installation Procedure
- Installation of Oval tubs, Heart tubs, or radius apron tubs may require a template for the deck cutout. A cutout line can be drawn by inverting the tub and tracing an outline, and undercut the outline by 1" all the way around.
- In an alcove installation construct the framework as shown. Note the overall unit measurements for accuracy and leave room for wall materials.
- In an Island, Peninsula, or sunken installation, construct the framework as shown. Be aware of overall unit measurements for accuracy.
- In all installations be certain that the framework is square, plumb, and level, and that all measurements are accurate. Correct an error NOW!!!
- For the DECK CUTOUT mark two centerlines as one major and one minor. Lay out the cut from the template or from the true measurements of the tub, working from center. The cutout should be 2" less than the tub, except as the tub restricts.
- INSTALL DRAIN KIT on the tub.
- The bathtub is ready for a TRIAL FIT. Install the unit in a LIP HUNG position and inspect for clearance and alignment. Note the clearance from the floor or sub-floor. The unit should be in a total hanging position.
- Verify that rim of tub is resting on deck surface, properly positioned and unit remains completely level for proper drainage. In some situations it may be necessary to shim the support legs to the sub-floor, where height variances occur. These must be secured with fasteners also.
- Connect the Drain/Waste fitting and test for proper drainage. Apply a gallon of water to the bottom, opposite the drain end and observe for full drainage. Some water beading will occur due to the new surface finish, but full drainage should be obvious.
- IF THE TUB DOES NOT DRAIN PROPERLY make an immediate correction or remove the tub and inspect the framework for proper alignment. If necessary, return to Step 7, above, and check level status of tub. Do not set tub if it does not drain properly, contact Sales Agent.
- Use the shipping carton or tub liner to cover the tub during the rest of the construction process.
